Pier Park is a 900,000 square foot retail and entertainment complex located on 93 acres that covers land from Front Beach Road (at the City Pier) to the heavily-traveled Highway 98 (Back Beach Road). Target, open at Pier Park since October 2006, has already kicked off Phase I of the project.
Adjoining Pier Park is the City's Aaron Bessant Park, which is dog-friendly! The park area is shown here in orange. The beach part of Pier Park is still off-limits to families with dogs due to the expected high traffic in the area. We are continuing our efforts to find a less highly-traveled zone for beach recreation with our dogs.
Aaron Bessant Park has beautiful natural areas, a nature trail and a lovely grass amphitheater. In the summertime, the park is host to the "Summer Concert Series" on Thursday nights. Your dog is welcome to these events, too!
View a YouTube video here of families and their dogs enjoying the music of "Emerald County Line" Thursday night, June 28, along with their four-legged family members.
The City of Panama City Beach has our utmost gratitude for recognizing the bond we have with our dogs and the need for outdoor public areas to accommodate us. In return, we |
